CORN LEAF

Corn leaf refers to the foliage of the corn plant (Zea mays), a tall annual cereal grass native to the Americas. The leaves are long, narrow, and blade-like, typically growing alternately along the stalk. Each leaf consists of a sheath that wraps around the stem and a flat, arching blade that can reach up to 4 feet in length. Corn leaves are bright to dark green in color and have parallel venation, contributing significantly to the plant’s photosynthesis process. The surface of the leaf may have a slightly rough texture due to fine hairs and is often covered with a waxy coating that helps reduce water loss.
