Araucaria Plants

Araucaria is a genus of ancient evergreen coniferous trees native primarily to the Southern Hemisphere, including South America, Australia, and some Pacific islands. These trees are characterized by their tall, straight trunks and whorled branches covered in tough, scale-like or needle-like leaves. The genus includes well-known species such as the Monkey Puzzle Tree (Araucaria araucana), native to Chile and Argentina, and the Norfolk Island Pine (Araucaria heterophylla), widely used as an indoor decorative plant.

Araucaria trees produce large seed cones and thrive in well-drained, slightly acidic soils with ample sunlight. They are valued for their unique, sculptural appearance in landscaping, as well as their timber in some regions. When grown indoors, particularly the Norfolk Island Pine, they require moderate watering and indirect sunlight. These plants add a prehistoric, elegant touch to gardens and interiors alike.
