BURNING BUSH

The Burning Bush is a highly decorative deciduous shrub, loved for its brilliant scarlet-red foliage in the fall that gives the appearance of a “bush on fire.” Native to Asia, this slow-growing shrub is widely used in ornamental landscaping for its seasonal color change, dense branching, and attractive corky bark.

It typically grows 6–10 feet tall and wide, making it ideal for use as a hedge, foundation plant, or striking focal point in the garden. The plant is very adaptable—thriving in full sun to partial shade and tolerating a range of soil types. In spring and summer, it has dark green leaves, which turn a vivid red in autumn.

Burning Bush is drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal maintenance. However, in some regions (especially parts of the U.S.), it is considered invasive, so local planting guidelines should be checked.
