A slow-growing, fan-leaved palm known for its silvery-green, wax-coated fronds. Highly ornamental and drought-tolerant, ideal for exotic or formal landscapes.

The Copernicia Palm, commonly referred to as the Wax Palm, is a genus of stunning, slow-growing palms native to the Caribbean and parts of South America. It is especially prized for its broad, stiff fan-shaped leaves, which are often coated with a natural waxy layer that gives them a silvery or bluish appearance — making the palm stand out in any landscape.

One of the most well-known species is Copernicia prunifera, the source of carnauba wax, used in polishes, cosmetics, and more. These palms can grow up to 30–60 feet tall (depending on the species) and feature smooth, sturdy trunks with symmetrical crowns.

Copernicia palms are drought-tolerant, wind-resistant, and thrive in full sun with well-drained soils. Though slow to establish, they are low-maintenance once mature and perfect for tropical, subtropical, and xeriscape landscapes. Their striking appearance and resilience make them a favorite in resorts, botanical gardens, and high-end residential properties.
